Burmester 10-year-old Tawny Port: ... A subtle overlay of maple and marzipan essence is exotic and enticing. Nutty nougat and toffee on the palate with a less obvious citrus twist which adds depth to the flavors. Voluptuous in the mouth, this is impressive stuff, with just enough acidity to balance the sweet... Score - 91. Croft Pink Port: Pink port is new on the scene and tastes delectable served straight from the fridge as a strong aperitif ... A very fruity, sweet but fresh style, this new port with its vivid pink hue is a winner. Chill hard and sip -- it's sooo refreshing. Croft Vintage Port 2000: Glowing blackish purple. Appetising topnote - good raciness. Big and bold and almost seamless. So perfumed it almost reminded me of a top quality German Riesling in aroma. Then it is very dry and neat on the finish with good concentration. Very dramatic. Round and perfumed. Good structure. Drink 2012 to 2028. Score - 18. Croft Vintage Port 2007: Shows aromas of very ripe fruit and sweet tobacco, with hints of earth and spices. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with round, velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. Likeable for its soft texture. Best after 2016. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. Score - 92. (James Suckling, winespectator.com, May 31, 2010) Tags: Fortifieds, Port, Wine |
