Argiolas Costera 2009: The estate's 2009 Isola dei Nuraghi Costera flows from the glass with layers of exquisitely perfumed fruit buttressed by fine, silky tannins. There is an element of pure elegance and refinement that is hard to do justice to with words. This is another terrific red from Argiolas. Costera is a blend of 90% Cannonau [aka, Grenache], 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Score - 91. Argiolas Perdera 2009: The 2009 Isola dei Nuraghi Perdera is fabulous. Layers of dark fruit, herbs, spices, and minerals flow from this exuberant, medium to full-bodied offering. Hints of smoke and tar add further nuance on the finish. This is a hugely rewarding wine for the money. Perdera is a blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Score - 90. (Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com, Aug. 2010) Tags: Blend - Other, Monica/Carignano/Bovale Sardo, Red Wine, Wine |

Arlewood Cabernet Sauvignon 2007: Coming from a single vineyard and block of vines planted in 1987, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was matured for 24 months in French oak barriques, 50% new. Deep garnet-black, the nose offers an abundance of evolving ripe berry and spice aromas: creme de cassis, warm black plums, mulberries, fenugreek, cumin seeds and cloves plus a whiff of bay leaf. Medium to full bodied, the palate is generously fruited with medium-high acid and a firm level of grainy tannins, finishing long and savory. Drinking now, it should continue to cellar to 2018+. Score - 91. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, erobertparker.com, Aug. 2011) Tags: Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Wine, Wine |

Arnaldo-Caprai Rosso Montefalco 2009: Silky tannins frame a core of expressive red fruit in the 2009 Montefalco Rosso. Flowers and spices add complexity on the supple finish. Caprai's Montefalco Rosso is a more important wine than its modest price suggests. The Rosso is typically at its most complete between ages 7-10. The 2009 can be enjoyed now, but readers who seek tertiary nuance will want to cellar this for a few years. The Rosso is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. Score - 90. (Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com, June 2011) Tags: Blend - Other, Red Wine, Sangiovese Blend, Wine |

Arnoux & Fils Vacqueyras 2009: Vivid purple. Red berry and cherry pit aromas are accented by white pepper and rose. Juicy and gently sweet, with a silky texture to the spicy raspberry and cherry flavors. Turns smokier with air and finishes on a note of dried rose. At once deep and lithe. Score - 90-92. Arrowood R?serve Sp?ciale Cabernet Sauvignon 2006: The two big Cabernets (meant to age for 2-3 decades) include the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso and the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale. These two offerings will improve in the cellar, and may well outpace my conservative ratings. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale is another brilliant effort. One only has to go back to older vintages to see how well this wine ages. It is often a candidate for one of the top three or four Cabernet Sauvignons made on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of creme de cassis, cedar, licorice, tobacco leaf, and spice box. The wine is full-bodied, rich, and heady with superb concentration and depth as well as moderately high tannins in the long, 40+ second finish. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 25 years. Score - 93. (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Feb. 2010) Tags: Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Wine, Wine |
