Amanoto Daiginjo 45: Asamai Shuzo opened in 1917 and, except for some of the war years, has been in continuous operation. This sake offers notes of apple, melon and a lifted floral quality on the nose and palate. The palate is round, full and very expressive. The finish is quite long. Serve chilled, allowing it to warm as you drink to explore the intriguing changes. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2011)

Amanoto Diamond Dust Junmai Ginjo: TASTING NOTE: Tremendous floral quality on the nose, with suggestions of spice, yellow plum and pumpkin adding delectable facets. The palate feels off-dry and is quite full, round and complex. Fruity with notes of almonds and marzipan mixing delightfully with the aromas replays. Long and lovely. Enjoy at room temperature, or slightly chilled alongside lightly flavoured seafood and crisp veggies. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2011)

Gekkeikan Black & Gold Junmai Sake: Gekkeikan Black & Gold is a full-bodied, rich sake with a smooth and mellow flavor. Carefully brewed using only the finest rice kernels, this sake has the flavor of fresh melon and papaya with just a touch of nuttiness. While it tastes great on its own or with any type of meal, its bold flavor is a perfect match for the rich flavor of teriyaki and sukiyaki. It comes in a traditional tokkuri style bottle, and this versatile sake can be served hot, room temperature or chilled. (chopsticksny.com, Oct. 2010)
