Alexander Amarone Grappa: TASTING NOTE: We stared at the crystal clearness of the Alexander Grappa di Amarone through it's beautifully simple, hand-blown bottle designed by Sandro Bottega himself. The grappa is absolutely colorless, giving it a luster and beauty that is topped only by its strong, grapey and spice bouquet, followed by its robust, mouth-warming attack and gently bitter, raisin-like aftertaste. We drank it chilled, then considered adding some espresso to end the evening with café coretto. But a little grappa goes a long way, and the warmth of the pure nectar was all we needed on this midsummer-night's dream of bubbles, grapes and grappa. (Kevin Cox, examiner.com, April 18, 2011)

Antinori Tignanello Grappa: Tignanello Grappa is obtained from the distillation of the pomace (skins and pips) from the Sangiovese and Cabernet used in the production of Tig. After pressing, the pomace is immediately taken to the distillery. This procedure guarantees that distillation is carried out using the best quality marc possible - rich with aromatic characteristics. A very careful selection is then made of the different lots of grappa and only the ones with the most elegance and balance are then blended and bottled.

Aperitivo Poli: Candy apple red/orange colour leads to an intriguing nose of orange peel, mulling spice (especially clove and cinnamon), cardamom pod, hickory smoke, potpourri and maraschino cherry. Simultaneously sweetly bitter and bitterly sweet with terrific spice and citrus rind replays. Asbach Uralt: A German legend since 1892, Asbach Uralt is a terrific brandy that is double distilled and then aged four or five times longer than the prescribed six months. Each batch is aged in French Limousin barriques. A great, full-flavoured brandy that is an exceptional digestif after a meal.
