Groundhog Day is a popular tradition in the United States and Canada celebrated on February 2nd each year. The most famous Groundhog Day celebration takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil emerges from his burrow. According to folklore, if Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, it is believed that spring will arrive early.

The tradition has its roots in ancient European weather lore, where people used animals, particularly hedgehogs, to predict weather patterns. The modern Groundhog Day in the United States dates back to the 19th century and has since become a lighthearted and widely recognized event.
