🍋🍸 Pisco Sour
A South American Classic with a Storied Past

The Pisco Sour is a classic cocktail with deep roots in South America, most notably in Peru and Chile. Bright, refreshing, and tangy, it’s celebrated for its distinctive balance of citrus, sweetness, and texture.

The defining ingredient - pisco - is a clear grape brandy produced in the historic winemaking regions of both countries.

📜 A Tale of Two Origins
The history of the Pisco Sour dates back to the early 20th century, with its exact origin still debated.

🇵🇪 Peru
The cocktail is commonly attributed to Victor Vaughen Morris, an American bartender who opened Morris’ Bar in Lima. He is credited with blending pisco, fresh lime juice, syrup, and egg white - creating the version now considered Peru’s national cocktail.

🇨🇱 Chile
Some credit the drink to Elliot Stubb, who reportedly developed an early version of the cocktail in the 1920s before returning to Chile.

🥂 While the debate continues, both countries proudly claim the Pisco Sour as a cultural icon - fueling a friendly rivalry that has only strengthened the drink’s global reputation.

🍹 Classic Pisco Sour Recipe (Peruvian Style)

🧾 Ingredients

🥃 2 oz pisco
🍋 1 oz fresh lime juice
🍬 ¾ oz simple syrup
🥚 1 egg white
✨ Angostura bitters (for garnish)

🔥 Instructions

1️⃣ Add pisco, lime juice, simple syrup, and egg white to a shaker.
2️⃣ Dry shake (without ice) vigorously to create foam.
3️⃣ Add ice and shake again until well chilled.
4️⃣ Strain into a short glass.
5️⃣ Garnish with a few drops of Angostura bitters.

The result is a beautifully balanced cocktail - tart, lightly sweet, and finished with a silky foam.

🍇 About Pisco
Pisco is a clear grape brandy that may resemble vodka in appearance but offers a crisp, aromatic profile with fruity and lightly spicy notes. First developed in the 16th century in Peru and Chile, pisco can be difficult to find outside South America.

🔄 While no substitute fully replicates its character, alternatives such as grappa, white tequila, or cachaça may be used in a pinch.

🌎🍸 A True Classic
Whether enjoyed in Lima, Santiago, or at home, the Pisco Sour remains a symbol of South American mixology - celebrated worldwide for its freshness, elegance, and enduring history.

Sip bright. Enjoy responsibly. 🍋🥂
