Masi Costasera Riserva Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2015

Description

This is a stellar amarone from a fine year - a benchmark for the genre that combines four varieties - 70% corvina, 5% molinara, 15% rondinella and 10% oseleta (a local variety Masi has regenerated). This has a terrific nose very complex and layered with all kinds of red plum/black cherry, lifted florals, nougat, forest and mushroom, vanilla and fine spice. It is full bodied yet so smooth and firm. Flavours seep through every pore, and it has such grace for a wine so big. The acid balance is excellent and even at 15.5% the alcohol is in check as well. Great structure and poise for such a big wine. The length is excellent to outstanding. Will age decades in my estimation, but balanced enough to enjoy now. Score - 95.
