Masi Riserva di Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2015

Description

This is a stellar amarone from a fine year - a benchmark for the genre that combines four varieties - 70% corvina, 5% molinara, 15% rondinella and 10% oseleta (a local variety Masi has regenerated). This has a terrific nose very complex and layered with all kinds of red plum/black cherry, lifted florals, nougat, forest and mushroom, vanilla and fine spice . It is full bodied yet so smooth and firm. Flavours seep through every pore, and it has such grace for a wine so big. The acid balance is excellent and even at 15.5% the alcohol is in check as well. Great structure and poise for such a big wine. The length is excellent to outstanding. Will age decades in my estimation, but balanced enough to enjoy now. Score - 95.
