Gran Enemigo El Cepillo Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2015

Description

El Cepillo is one of the southernmost zones in Gualtallary-and one of the most extreme. The Andean desert landscape is vividly present here, with acacia trees and rocks battered by the cool winds blowing down from the mountains that are not only fierce but that also make this one of the coldest parts of Uco, despite being only 1,300 meters above sea level. The vineyard was planted to malbec and cabernet franc in 2009, and this wine is a 15-85% blend of those two varieties, respectively. The wine was fermented in barrels and then aged for 15 months in century-old foudres. You can taste the remote, wild origin of this austere red, adorned with nothing more than the fruit flavors that enliven its powerfully severe, monastic structure. This wine needs about 10 years in the bottle to reach its full potential. For the moment, the best advice is patience. Score - 98. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2019)
