Description

This Douro blend of Tourigas Nacional and Franca is harvested by hand early in the fall from terraced vineyards planted in schist soils at 400 meters above sea level. The early pick date and elevation combine to provide freshness and structure along with classic richness and depth found in reds from this region. Fermented via indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Further refinement takes place on the lees in older French oak barrels for 18 months. An approachable, fruit-driven wine with wonderful structure, finesse and surprising complexity. A luxurious array of red fruits, kitchen spice and just the right amount of toasty oak alongside subtle floral notes and a streaky mineral character. 16.5/20 Points, Jancis Robinson; Silver Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards.
