Description

Passito di Pantelleria is an Italian DOC for Moscato wines made from dried grapes grown in Italy's most southerly territory, the island of Pantelleria. In Sicily Moscato is called Zibibbo, which means 'raisin' in Arabic. The grapes are grown in vine 'baskets' to protect them from the winds. Grapes are either left to dry on the vine or in special drying rooms. The result is a wine that is produced in miniscule quantities and very sweet, yet balanced by acidity to keep it fresh. A light amber colour with intense yet sweet, elegant and well-balanced with notes of orange peel, apricots, dried figs and honey with impressive acidity.
