Muddy Water Skin Ferment 2019

Description

An emerging sect of NZ orange wines is breathing a zephyr of change into the industry there - so often innovators in so many categories and yet sometimes feeling a little reluctant to evolve in wine. Muddy Water has often been in front of the curve, however. A great producer from arguably my favourite region in NZ. Gewurz, riesling, saint laurent, gruner in the mix here. Very chewy, chalky, farmhouse-cider-esque orange wine of depth, clarity and complexity. I really like this. Mandarin, clove, dried citrus peel, bergamot all jostling. Seriously good and serious tannins, excellent length and generally just a very good expression of the style at a more considered and detailed end of the spectrum. Excellent. Drink: 2020-2030.
