Fortifieds

Below is all the Fortifieds we have available.

Pedroncelli Four Grapes Vintage Port 2006: Made using Tinta Madeira, Souzão, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cão (all are used to make Port or Madeira in Portugal). Deep garnet colour with aromas of Christmas cake, plum pudding, mocha and vanilla bean. Medium-sweet featuring fine replays of many of the aromas. There's still some youthful heat and tannin here suggesting it will age gracefully for some time yet (4-6 years). Can be enjoyed tonight with blue-veined cheeses. (VINTAGES panel, Oct. 2012)

Perry Creek Port: A superlative effort! One of California's tastiest dessert wines. Made from traditional Portuguese varietals grown in the Sierra Foothills region. Rich, dark ruby color; brooding aroma leads to very attractive flavors of dried cherry, blackberry, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves with pleasant notes of minerals and lacquer. A polished wine. Enthusiastically recommended. (Alan Boehmer, suite101.com, Aug. 11, 2000)

Poas Colheita Port 1994: A wine that spent 14 years in wood to give the deep gold color, the bitter marmalade flavors that are tightened by old wood. This is unctuous in its texture, but bright in its flavor. Ready to drink. Score - 92. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, March 2010)

Poas Ruby Port: Looking for a delicious deal? This delightful Ruby Port is bursting with aromas of ripe cherry, mulberry, licorice and dried fruit. Sweet with a medium-full body and a weighty mouthfeel. The aromas replay on the palate with additional notes of spice cupboard and chocolate. A great Port to serve with an after-dinner cheese plate. (VINTAGES panel, Oct. 2011)

Poas Special Reserve Tawny Port: A great caramel and dried raisin character, the wine showing figs and spice, touched by the spirit but not more. The end has dryness, a firm finish. Score - 88. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Web Only, March 2010)

Quinta Da Romaneira Vintage Port 2008: Deeply colored, with a dark plum aroma leading to cassis, raspberry and dark chocolate flavors. Very harmonious, with rich notes of mineral and spice, followed by a polished finish. Best after 2017. Score - 92. (Kim Marcus, winespectator.com, Dec. 31, 2010)

Quinta Das Carvalhas Reserva Tawny Port: Tasty, really well-priced Tawny Port with aromas and flavours of raisin, fig, new leather and spice cupboard. Sweet, but never cloying with good fruit/spice replays on a long finish. No need to cellar it, as it's ready to be enjoyed around the nut bowl or with blue-veined cheese. Should easily last opened on the counter for a week or three without noticeable deterioration. (VINTAGES panel, April 2012)
