Description

The Syrah for this cuvée always comes from the same block, planted between 1929 and 1934 in what was Guy Ricard's grandfather's garden. The other parcels are dotted around Vacqueyras, mainly on the Garrigues. The wine is fresh and lively, with scents of black cherry and damson. It's full-bodied, with lush, opulent and fleshy black fruits on the palate, showing no signs of overmaturity. The density of fruit is needed to match the chewy tannins, while good acidity brings a feeling of balance. Sweet damson, a lovely texture and a sense of purity are revealed on the finish.
