Description

R & D is a less expensive blend employing the same five varieties used in Hypothesis, aged in French and American oak. Merlot is the base. It has a very impressive, complex nose with fairly deep blackberry fruit generously oaked with resin, dark chocolate and spicy complexity. It is medium-full bodied, fairly dense and rich with considerable green tannin, alcohol and resin on the finish. The length is excellent. I would age this until 2020 at least; the emerging signature of Culmina's reds. Score - 90. (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Nov. 19, 2018)
